The recipe for Bread and Butter Pudding is found in all British cookery books. The traditional recipe calls for dried fruits and nuts placed on the bread slices. My son dislikes fruits and nuts, in any form. Therefore I decided to use jam (which he does not object to) on the slices along with butter. Those with sweet tooth will love it! Add cream to the egg and milk mixture and forget your waistline 🙂
This western recipe in it’s original form was bland and uninteresting. I have added several ingredients to make it appealing to the Indian taste buds while keeping it still Western. The dish can be extended with 200g of mushrooms fried along with the spring onion.
I had always firmly believed that cakes should be made with butter and eggs. I found this recipe for an eggless butterless cocoa cake in Hershey’s Chocolate and Cocoa Cookbook which I bought in 1987. I decided to bake this cake for New Year 2014 and was greatly pleased by how moist and tasty it was, but my children complained that it was a bit rubbery. Still, it is a very good cake.
